Integrates de-escalation strategies within the high school’s Special Education Department, including positive behavioral interventions and classroom-level social, emotional, and behavioral supports for all students.

Provides emotional and social support for students’ needs and helps children improve social skills by meeting one-on-one to discuss coping strategies and a plan moving forward, increasing their ability to learn in school.

Works collaboratively with the student's educational team and parents to develop and implement intervention strategies for the classroom and the school environment that allow the student to integrate into the school setting.

Establishes relationships and communicates with teachers, administrators, and family members.

Shadows students during to class to ensure positive behavior; assists staff in defining and measuring behavior and understanding positive reinforcement; implements strategies to decrease disruptive behaviors.

Delivers school-wide Positive Behavioral Support and factors that affect effectiveness, including treatment.

Works with individual teachers, groups of teachers, and the entire staff on issues such as crisis intervention, learning and collaboration issues, and factors that can affect the development and implementation of interventions.

Promotes specialized positive behavior interventions in which “at-risk” students thrive; commends accomplishments.

Continually supervises students to ensure a safe, non-threatening, nurturing environment where students can thrive.

Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve District, building, departmental, and/or grade-level goals.
